Tickets that were submitted a couple of days ago have been ignored, sites remain down for days at a time and when I do get to talk to someone on the phone its all smoothed over like nothing is wrong. I've got clients pulling the plug on us and I'm trying to do the honorable thing by giving them their database backups and wwwroot files. Tickets requesting backups, which I'm told only takes a moment to create, have been ignored and I'm thinking that the forums are the only way to be heard.

https://support.ihostllc.net/index.php?_m=knowledgebase&_a=viewarticle&kbarticleid=101&nav=0,1,15,19

The hacks we've experienced involved placing an index.html file in the root.

I am not a programmer, but some have told me that:

a) this is more likely an FTP hack, than a DNN or ASP attack, and

b) the best way to protect against future attacks would be to limit FTP and folder permissions more.

Does anyone out there have any more insight into this that they can share with the iHost community?

Now that the emails are continuing, I need someone to help me and make sure that my identity hasn't been stolen to make charges from one of my credit cards to this company (I haven't noticed anything unusual, but this is getting creepy). I can't simply email someone because there's only the web support center to deal with. When I try to retrieve "my" password, I find that my actual email has not been verified, so I can't make a complaint there.
I am finally biting the bullet and remaking my website, currently on DNN 3.2.2, I have copied the site down to my Local Server ready to start the upgrade process because I want my content of existing site to be in a state that I can transfer it to the new site.

When I navigate to the site using IIS 5 I get the following error

Line 1: <%@ Application Codebehind="Global.asax.vb" Inherits="'Dotnetnuke.Common.Global'" %>

I've googled and spent the last two weeks doing all the "solutions" listed to no avail.

I installed a fresh out of the box DNN 3.2.2 and that does the same however fresh installs of 3.3.7 or 4.x.x all work ok. I am on a Windows 2000 Server with IIS 5, ASP.Net versions 1.1 and 2 are on and working properly, both have been restarted and reinstalled, I have compared my local site with production site file by file and everything matches.

If I switch DNN 3.3.7 to ASP 1.1 I get the same error so I remain convinced that it is an ASP issue but has anyone any fresh ideas?

Failing that is there a way to make a clean 3.3.7 and transfer in my existing database without it throwing millions of errors?

Any help before I jump off a cliff would be appreciated.

If you wish to transfer a domain name from your current registrar to our registrar, then you will need to do a couple of things first. First the domain name needs to be unlocked from the current domain registrar. Then you can request "Transfer Authorization" codes from the current registrar. You will then want to supply us with the transfer authorization code and we will go to our domain registrar and initiate the actual transfer process. At this time the "registrant contact" for that particular domain will be sent an approval email to verify the transfer. Once the registrant contact has followed the steps provided in that email to approve the transfer, the transfer will actually begin. From this point it can take from 3-7 business days for your domain name to be actually transferred to our registrar. Please note that a fee of $10.95 will be applied to your account for a domain transfer. As our registrar requires that any domain being transferred to them is renewed for an additional year from it's current expiration date.

Alternately, if you just want to use the domain name with your site hosted on our servers. You could just update the DNS settings for the domain name at the current registrar to reflect our name servers listed below. Once DNS propagates the name server change (approx. 2 - 24 hours), that domain name will resolve to your site hosted on our server. Please note that this option will not incur any fees nor will it actually transfer your domain name from your registrar to our registrar.

The final steps for either process are the same. You will want to make sure that this domain name is mapped in the Helm control panel. Either created as a "Hosted Domain" or as a "Domain Alias". Also you will want to be sure that you have updated your "Portal Alias" table within DNN under the "Site Settings" section of the "Admin" menu.

iHost Name Servers for DNS Settings:

ns1.ihostasp.net
ns2.ihostasp.net
ns3.ihostasp.net

Any plans to upgrade HELM?

Just wondering. So I've purchased the domain (from iHost) and I need to allocate my child portal to the new domain name and mask the child portal url's.

So, am I right in thinking that I add my new domain name as a sub-domain and then add the domain name as a portal alias? And what about masking? I can't see a tutorial on the masking bit but I may have missed it.

Many thanks.

Problem With Creating Parent Portal / Child Portal

OK, got myself in to a bit of a mess with my first DNN site. I need to set up parent/child portals, eg uk.mydomain.org/hastings (my site will have parent portals for each country and child portals for various regions/cities/towns).

I firstly checked out the tutorial on iHostASP (and also on Creative Magazine) about setting up parent/child portals. I created the sub domain (uk.mydomain.org) in the control panel (no problem) and added it to the DNN portals (again no problem). However, after logging in as host, the new portal did not display, and I probably panicked by deleting the portal within DNN.

I then created a child portal (mydomain.org/uk) but it said that a portal with that name already existed), so presumably you can't have a parent and child portals with the same name? So how do I proceed from here? Do I need to delete the sub domain from the control panel and/or delete the folders created for portal 1 (uk) and start again? Or is this something iHost need to look at?

And should I do this after upgrading to 5.2.2?

Can't find my website

I used to work as a web developer but all the DNS, server IPs, etc. were handled for me. I have never used an online hosting service before. I purchased the domain 'interdatadesign.com' days ago and under Domains it is listed as 'Active'. However, when I try to bring it up I get "Page Not Found". In the column to the left, under "Resource", domains shows a total of one but there is a little red bar instead of green. This leads me to believe that there might be something wrong with the domain, but I have not seen any type of error or warning messages and can not intuitively figure out what the problem might be.

I'm sure this is a newbie question. I've downloaded the HTML file and placed it in the site root (DNN 5 does not create a file of the right configuration) - the confirmation link on the google verification page shows that the file is there and the contents correct. But when I try to verify, google says it cannot contact the server or, infrequently, reports that the file has the wrong contents - quite different from what is shown when the file is accessed directy via the browser.

I have another site (4.7) with iHostASP and that verifies perfectly so I am puzzled. Any suggestions most welcome.

 Hello,

I have chats on my website every Tuesday and recently when I open up my chat to start my group, I am receiving an error message. This error message won't even allow me to type words, or basically do anything at all but open and close it ,with the error message repeating itself.

Below is what the error message states:

Error: Result of expression 'topNode' [undefined] is not an object.
Error: Result of expression 'topNode' [undefined] is not an object.
Error: Result of expression 'topNode' [undefined] is not an object.
Error: Result of expression 'topNode' [undefined] is not an object.

If anyone knows what may be the problem and how I can fix this, please let me know.

Thank you,
