Thanks for that.  I checked on my office pc and everything works.

What would make my home pc not go further than the login page without getting a 404.  I also get a 404 when submitting a support ticket.  Does it use Java or anything else?  I slacked off the browser security and privacy but still nothing.  Any suggestions?

Ironically I brought my office laptop home and now it does not work here.  At the office it worked fine.  I plugged it into the adsl modem that has no fancy bits ie. firewall etc.  Would my ISP have something to do with this...maybe a blocked port or something?

I'm presuming you can browse the rest of the internet as you've posted on here, try browsing to your page at home then Control F5 to force a server reload of the page in case you have a cache issue.

    Cheers,

    Peter

    Re: login issue

I reloaded, deleted the internet temp files, relaxed the IE security settings, switched off the firewall, tried Firefox, installed Java etc.   Browsing the internet and getting into other secure sites is no problem.

Holistically my laptop works on our company lan but at home it does not.  I am sure my adsl modem is not filtering or anything as it's a plain vanilla.  The only difference really is the ISP....does the login use some port that is blocked by my ISP.  It has to be ISP related me thinks!

Make sure your PC is not behind a proxy server. Some ISP's use caching proxies to save bandwidth, the proxy servers usually cannot handle dynamic content generated by the DNN. Also, you may want to disable "friendly URL" feature to see if it helps, proxy servers identify dynamic sites by the query-string in the URL.

I do have a very bandwidth aware ISP so this sounds just about right.  Where do I disable the friendly URL in IE7 as I can find it nowhere.  Could not find a add on like this.

    Answer

I seem to have solved the issue by installing SP3.  Laptop will login at work but not at home.  Now with SP3 it logs in at home so let see if tomorrow morning will turn into a blue Monday or not when I take the laptop to the office!
