    Any plans to upgrade HELM?

Just wondering. I have seen the demo and like some of the new features.

Re: Any plans to upgrade HELM?

If you are referring to upgrading existing HELM3 to HELM4, the answer is definite no. Since Webhost Automation Ltd. sold Helm to Parallels the entire HELM franchise is effectively dead and no new features are being added. Furthermore, there is no practical upgrade path for existing servers managed by HELM3 to HELM4. Few years ago WHA released an upgrade tool, however it has never worked right and corrupted existing sites and settings. The existing HELM3 server network will continue to operate and supported indefinitely for existing users, however to support new services and features we are deploying brand new network of servers based on Windows 2008R2 and SQL 2008 servers.

The new shared hosting network will operate in parallel to existing legacy servers and will have whole slew of new and unique services associated with it. Existing customers will have an option to migrate some or all sites if necessary to the new control panel and servers.

Our goal is to offer new features and services without restrictions of the legacy configuration or disrupting existing operation. The only way to accomplish this is to continue support of existing legacy system while establishing new generation network, servers, and control panel software to manage it all.

Are the SQL 2008R2 servers available? If not, when will they be?

All new MSSQL servers deployed this year are MSSQL2008 edition in our shared platform. I believe mssql10.ihostasp.net and above are SQL2008 versions. We have also been very successful with moving some of our customers from shared to a virtual dedicated environments using Windows 2008 R2 Hyper-V as a hosting platform. With Windows 2008 R2 we can deliver powerful and feature rich hosting environments at low cost. The client gets full dedicated server experience at the fraction of the cost, it also makes our job easier since we do not have to worry about conflicting settings and requirements that otherwise plague the shared hosting.

The Windows 2008 R2 Hyper-V solution sounds interesting. What is the cost of that vs, for instance, the DotNetNuke Developer hosting package my organization currently has?
