New SMTP gateway/spam filter installation – MX Update

We have successfully installed and tested new MailFoundry SMTP spam filter server in CLE02 datacenter. This will double our inbound SMTP spam and virus filtering capacity, and will create greater availability by having two redundant servers in two separate data centers acting as edge recipients for inbound SMTP traffic. To activate this spam filter for all customers, we must create additional “MX” record for every domain managed by our DNS servers. The following “MX” record will be automatically added to your zone file starting 4 PM EST.

    Type: MXValue: cle02mxgw01.winsvr.net

    Priority: 100

If you are using our DNS and mail servers for your domain(s), you do not have to make any changes. If you utilize  third party name servers, you will need to add new MX record manually. In the event that you use third party mail services and do use our DNS, this change should not affect you as long as custom MX records have priority below our default “100”.

In the event that your custom priority is equal or higher than our default “100”, the inbound mail may be diverted to our spam filter instead of third party mail server. In this case, you can delete our default mail record(s) or adjust priorities for your custom MX records.
